We are an education based Team; the main role is to support schools in the  identification of pupils experiencing social and communication differences, autism spectrum condition and to meet the needs of the individual, named pupils who have been referred to the team via the Consultation Process.

Once a school has identified a pupil as having social and communication differences they should gain permission from parent(s)/carers to discuss the child at a CEAT Consultation; Where a selection of strategies will be recommended to more effectively meet the child’s needs. The school should put these into Action, they will be evaluated and Reviewed at the following session of CEAT Consultation, as part of the PLAN DO REVIEW Process.

CEAT can provide support, guidance and information in : altering the physical environment, looking at the use of language and communication strategies, modifying the curriculum, suggesting ideas for the less structured times of the day e.g. Break-times, Lunch-times. Provide information to the peer group to share understanding as to why a pupil with ASC may present as being ‘different’.

CEAT can offer in-service training to schools within the locality. The training can be bespoke to requirements. The Team also offers a two-day course every term, ‘Introduction to Autism Spectrum Conditions’. This course is designed to meet the needs of staff who find that they are working directly with an ASC pupil.
